Dr. Jon B. Christensen, DMSc, PA-C, FAWM, FEWM, FIBODM, DiMM, is an advanced practice provider and educator with more than two decades of experience in family medicine, emergency and urgent care, orthopedics, disaster medicine, global health, and wilderness and remote medicine. He integrates a broad, multifaceted background with more than 30 years of elite military special operations leadership, providing care in austere combat environments, remote Indigenous communities, and executive-level settings in preventive, performance, and integrative medicine. Dr. Christensen earned his Doctor of Medical Science in Emergency Management Global Health, and received the inaugural EMGH Leadership Award. He also completed formal executive leadership training at the University of Oxford Saïd Business School, a member of The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS), and earned higher-education teaching certification from Harvard University Derek Bok Center for Teaching & Learning. His professional credentials include advanced certifications in critical care and tactical paramedicine, as well as multiple fellowships in wilderness, extreme, and disaster medicine. He also earned the Diploma in Mountain Medicine. His academic work focuses on leadership, disaster medicine, wilderness and austere medicine, global health, and the preparation of remote medical providers for tactical and prolonged field care. He has played a key role in developing multinational special operations medical training programs and contributes to curriculum design, doctoral mentorship, and scholarship to improve clinical readiness and systems performance in high-risk, resource-limited settings.
